After the lively firecrackers display and lion dance performance, the audience turned their attention to the stage for the opening and welcome speeches from the distinguished guests of honor.

Mr. William Chang, Chairman of SingCham Shanghai, kicked off with his welcome address. He emphasized the importance of unity among Singaporeans living abroad, while underscoring the need for adaptability and competitiveness in an increasingly complex and volatile world. He also expressed his gratitude to the SingCham committee and MFA for their dedicated efforts in organizing the event.
中国新加坡商会会长曾广仁先生首先发表了欢迎致辞。他强调，在日益复杂多变的世界局势下，海外侨居的新加坡同胞们团结一致的重要性，同时指出了提升适应能力和竞争力的必要性。此外，他还对商会委员会及领事馆为此次活动所付出的辛勤努力表示衷心感谢。

Next, Mr. Peter Tan, Singapore’s Ambassador to China, delivered his opening address, extending his “Happy New Year” wishes to everyone. "May your wishes come true, and may your families be healthy and well!" He too, thanked SingCham Shanghai and SSIS for bringing the Singaporean community together on such a meaningful and auspicious occasion.

Ms. Joanna Tay, Regional Director of the Singapore Global Network (SGN), emphasized the event’s purpose of celebrating Chinese New Year, strengthening friendships, and rekindling memories of Singapore, while highlighting Singapore’s multiculturalism through the Peranakan culture showcase. Ms. Joanna Tay introduced SGN’s mission to connect the global Singaporean diaspora and friends of Singapore, fostering business and professional opportunities through global networks and initiatives. She encouraged attendees to engage with SGN via WeChat or directly reach out to her for updates and opportunities in Singapore.

No other segment of the event was more captivating than the Mega Lohei, specially designed in the shape of a snake by Jumbo Seafood. As the event hosts gathered participants around the table, the Prosperity Toss took centre stage and the salad was flung skyward, amidst blessings of prosperity and good fortune in the year ahead.

Amidst the vibrant festivities, SingCham Shanghai extended our heartfelt gratitude to the event sponsors and partners through an award ceremony. The moment Mr. Peter Tan took the stage for his solo performance of "Spring Breeze Kisses My Face," the audience was completely captivated. The event then reached new heights when Mr. William Chang joined in for a heartfelt duet of "Friendship Runs Deep." Their performances stirred a wave of cherished memories, leaving a deep and lasting impression on everyone in the audience.
当新加坡大使陈海泉先生登台独唱《春风吻上我的脸》时，全场观众无不为之倾倒。当曾广仁会长加入后，二人合作演唱的《细水长流》更是唤起了观众心中珍藏的回忆，庆典气氛也达到了高潮，给在场的每一位留下了深刻而难忘的印象。
In addition, the celebration was made more enjoyable with a plethora of experiential activities, some of which include designing ceramic tiles and decorating embroidered shoes, immersing our guests in a truly Peranakan setting. To tickle the tastebuds of event participants, authentic Singaporean flavours comprising Peranakan snacks, Nasi Lemak, Hainanese Chicken Rice, Bak Kwa, Satay & Rojak were readily available at the various food stalls, whetting our appetite and adding much nostalgia to Singaporeans missing home.
此外，主办方特别设立了丰富的互动体验区，包括趣味游戏、瓷砖设计、装饰绣珠鞋等活动，让来宾在体验中感受到独特的娘惹风情。不仅如此，来自新加坡的地道美食，如娘惹糕点、椰浆饭、海南鸡饭、肉干、沙爹、罗惹等，更是令人大快朵颐，让现场来宾充分感受到浓浓的家乡味。
To bid farewell and to show appreciation towards the Consul-General Chua, Mr Peter Tan, staff of the Consulate- General and our EXCO members sang along to Emil Wakin Chau’s iconic song 朋友. That was most definitely a moment to remember.
