SingCham Shanghai Tech Tuesday: FinTech Showcases
On March 26, 2019, SingCham Shanghai Tech Tuesday hosted our third monthly event which focused on Fintech. The event was organised jointly with the SingCham Shanghai Finance and Investment Sub-committee and the Malaysian Chamber of Commerce.
The event had almost 100 attendees, including financial services professionals, technology professionals, representatives from the governments of Singapore and Malaysia as well as representatives from other Chambers. It was a great event filled with concise insights, practical use cases, and thought-provoking questions.
The first speaker of the evening was Mr Zheng Yudong, CEO of PINTEC’s Wealth Management Business. He shared on ‘Powering the Future of Finance’ through connecting business and financial partners on an open platform which enables them to provide financial services to end users efficiently and effectively.
It was followed by our second speaker, Mr Fang Zi Ang, Founder of Tenzont, who shared about the use cases of AI in electonic IDs and its fintech applications. The talk was well-received as it provided insight on how such technologies are applied in China’s unique context.
Last but not least, Mr Richard Hong, Head of Buy-side at Bloomberg (Southern China), shared on ‘The Wallstreet-kind of FinTech, in Lujiazhui’. He explained how finance and big data can come together to create something beautiful for professional investors and how retail investors can adopt the same tactics. A demonstration of the Bloomberg terminals’ functionalities and results concluded his presentation.
