Message from SingCham Shanghai Executive Committee
Dear SingCham members and friends,
Greetings! Trust all is well with everyone! We wish to update you on several developments.
To create a better platform for business partnerships, we will soon be rolling out multiple Industry Business Groups (Real Estate & Sustainability, Hospitality & F&B, Tech & Finance, Healthcare & Services, and more) where members can help champion a united outreach and engagement with Singapore-China forums and opportunities. We hope that this inclusive approach would better bring many exciting internal and external events to more members and share chamber-level opportunities with more interested members.
As a start, the Business Group has announced our first business engagement event on December 3rd 9am-12pm; do mark your calendars and I hope to meet you there for a lively dialogue. A key theme will be how we can enable successful partnerships, and this is our first event towards this Chamber mission.
Our Youth Group, serving the young PMET and exchange students, is looking at ways to serve the younger generation of Singaporeans, to immerse in the Chinese language, history, and culture, and build deeper bonds. We sincerely believe this can help prepare our next generation be China-ready.
It is heartening to see social activities amongst our members active and ongoing; our Social Group will be planning a series of food trails, watering holes hunting, city walks, sport and family activities to forge closer ties and "stickiness" amongst Singaporeans, and our friends ofSingapore. Do reach out to any of the Exco members if you haveany interesting ideas to share, we will definitely try to make it happen!
With respect to internal processes, the EXCO is actively building key competences in the areas of governance (both financial and non-financial), digitalization, communications & branding, membership outreach and partnerships development. This is to enhance relevance and benefits to members, improve processes and transparency, encourage and empower member-driven initiatives. I am glad to report work-in-progress, during our 2nd Exco meeting on Oct 29, on improved guidelines, financial controls, approval processes, and governance mechanisms.
You will be hearing from us over the next few weeks, where we will be reporting progress and upcoming activities, and also to reach out to you for feedback, support, and participation to make a better Chamber. To this end, the Exco has started analyzing our members profiles to shape meaningful engagements and activities; we are redesigning our membership page and running an exercise for members to update your details to better cater to your needs. Do email membership@singcham-shanghai.orgif you did not receive the recent year book information request email.
There is much to do but I have every confidence in my team, and I look forward to an active and engaging Chamber that you’d be excited about too. In the meantime, do feel free to reach out to any of us singcham@singcham-shanghai.org.
Warmest Regards,
Kng Hwee Tin
