2022 May 14 Tech for Good: Empowering Better Society with Sustainable Technologies
SingCham Shanghai held the 17th series of its signature event Tech Tuesday, entitled “Tech for Good: Empowering Better Society with Sustainable Technologies” on 14 June 2022.

3 speakers (Ben Tian, Andeed Ma and Dr. James Ong) shared their thought leadership on Tech for Good in terms of opportunities and challenges, as well as how we can empower Tech for Good with collective initiatives and industry best practices.
Sustainability is a widely discussed topic. It’s about everyone taking responsible action to tackle climate change. This requires the collective efforts of individuals, companies, industries, governments to develop innovative technologies that are sustainable and can create a positive impact on society, business and human race. Tech for Good is about balancing Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) well to achieve the positive outcome we want.
The webinar was opened by William Chang, Vice Chair of SingCham Shanghai about SingCham Shanghai’s mission to build and link Singapore business communities with other China and international communities in China.
James Ong, head of SingCham Technology and Innovation Working Group provided an overview ofTech Tuesday, one of SingCham Shanghai’s signature events, that has been running since 2019 with our 17th events of offline forum and online webinars with the support from many community partners.
The section on speaker presentation, panel discussion and Q&A was moderated by Renee Tan, where a wide list of topics was covered with speakers from AI technology leader SenseTime, industry association RIMAS (Risk and Insurance Management Association of Singapore) and AIII Think Tank (Artificial Intelligence International Institute).
Ben Tian shared SenseTime’s Tech for Good strategy for sustainable development for Asia with AI and covered their three principles of Sustainability, Human-Centric Approach and Controllable Technology.
Andeed Ma shared his perspective on Tech for Good for the Future of Mankind. He provided a risk management approach with 3 pillars of Principles, Frameworks and Processes to enable Tech for Good, AI Safety and AI Review, as advocated at RIMAS.
Dr. James Ong shared his viewpoint on Why, What and How to enable Tech for Good. He shared the strategy adopted by AIII with 3 areas of focus and actions to enable Tech of Good, i.e. Multilateral Dialogue and Ecosystem for Collective Actions, Purposeful Capitalism for Tech Ventures and Tech for “Tech for Good”.
The webinar was attended by more than 60 participants from China and Singapore.
